Leather quality is determined by the grade, hide, and tanning process. The main types of leather quality are:

Full-grain leather
Considered the highest quality leather, full-grain is made from the top layer of cowhide. It's strong, durable, and has a natural look and feel.

Top-grain leather
Another high-quality leather with a beautiful appearance.

Corrected grain leather
The second highest grade of leather, corrected grain leather has a more uniform, artificial grain on the surface. It's more resistant to spills and scratches.

Split-grain leather
The weakest part of the hide, split-grain leather is often embossed to give it a shiny or grainy appearance. However, it's not suitable for premium quality leather products.

Bonded leather
The lowest grade of leather, bonded leather is made from shredded leather scraps and bits reconstituted with a filler. It's very cheap, but falls apart quickly.
